This complex component has a torsion bar tensioner as an elastic element, replacing the classic spiral spring. It is an adjustable tensioner, and its main function is to optimize the thermal management of the engine.
As it does? Once the engine has reached a certain temperature and its thermal state needs to be checked, this tensioner activates and drives the water pump.
The drive belt tensioner powers the crankshaft pulley to the water pump pulley, which is engaged and disengaged by an electric actuator.
